# 12 Questions to Ask a Wedding Venue Before You Book

**By VowsLink Team** · 2026-07-12

A venue tour is easy to fall in love on and hard to compare from. These twelve questions turn a pretty walkthrough into a decision you can defend later.

## Money and terms

1. What exactly does the rental fee include — tables, chairs, linens, setup, teardown?
2. What's the payment schedule, and what happens if we need to change the date?
3. Are there mandatory vendors or buyout fees for bringing our own?
4. What are ALL the potential extra charges — overtime, cake-cutting, corkage, security?

## Logistics

5. How many hours of access do we get, including setup and vendor load-in?
6. What's the real capacity with a dance floor and band — not the brochure number?
7. What's the weather backup plan, and does it cost extra to trigger it?
8. How many weddings do you host per day/weekend?

## People and rules

9. Who is our point of contact on the day — and is that a coordinator or just a caretaker?
10. What are the alcohol rules — licensed bar required, or can we hire a [mobile bar service](/pages/wedding-bar-beverage-florida-fl)?
11. Noise limits and hard end times — what are they, really?
12. Can we see a full vendor list from a recent wedding similar to ours?

Tour at the same time of day as your ceremony, take photos of the ugly corners (loading docks, bathrooms), and get every "yes, of course" in writing. Then compare options side by side on VowsLink: [Florida](/pages/wedding-venues-florida-fl), [Texas](/pages/wedding-venues-texas-tx), [California](/pages/wedding-venues-california-ca), [New York](/pages/wedding-venues-new-york-ny) and beyond.
