Beauty is the wedding budget line that most often surprises couples — not because it's expensive, but because it multiplies.
What it costs
Bridal hair and makeup together typically run $250–$600 for the bride. Each additional person — bridesmaids, mothers, grandmothers — adds $85–$180. A party of six can therefore reach $1,200–$1,800 before travel fees. Trials are usually $100–$250 and often billed separately.
How trials actually work
A trial should take 60–90 minutes, use the products that will be used on the day, and end with photos taken in natural light — makeup that looks perfect in a salon mirror can read heavy on camera. Bring a photo of your dress neckline and your veil or hairpiece. Book the trial 6–8 weeks out, not the week before.
Logistics that affect the invoice
On-location service (they come to you) commonly carries a travel fee and an early-start surcharge before 7 a.m. Large parties may require a second artist, which is a good thing — one artist doing eight faces means someone is finished four hours early. Ask how many artists will attend and how the schedule is built backwards from your first-look time.
Questions worth asking
Is the trial included or separate? Are lashes, airbrush and touch-up kits extra? What happens if I want changes on the day? Do you stay for touch-ups after the ceremony, and what does that cost?
